Machinist

Seeking a skilled Machinist to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. You will produce and repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements.

Responsibilities:

  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.

  • Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and venire calipers.

  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.

  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.

  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.

  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Skills:

Machining Experience

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have completed a formal apprenticeship program.

  • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.).

  • Focus on manual machining methods such as vertical milling, turning and precision grinding preferred; tool making skills may also apply.

  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.

  • Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.

  • Good at math with analytical abilities.

  • Occasionally lifting-up to 50 pounds and standing for up to 12 hours a day in something you can handle.

  • You are able to follow verbal and written instructions, directions and other communication in English.

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constrains while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
